Shankill Tennis Club History

Shankill Tennis Club has been providing a service to the local community for over 39 years

Since its inception 39 years ago, Shankill Tennis Club has continuously developed from very small beginnings to a Club that now has 7 Outdoor Courts, 3 Indoor Courts, 2 Padel Courts, 2 Junior/Pickle Ball courts and an even a Boules Piste. We offer these facilities not only to our Members but also to the Community. We are a Tennis and Community Club and welcome everyone.

None of this would have been possible without the continuing financial support from DLRCC and the Sports Council to whom we are deeply appreciative. The Sports Capital Grant has enabled us to make Tennis available to all. We have extensive Programmes for Enjoy Tennis which encompasses Tennis for the Visually Impaired, Wheelchair Tennis and more recently Parastanding Tennis.

The Club is committed to making Tennis accessible to all and as a result has been presented with various awards, the latest one being the Gold Award from Tennis Ireland for our Management and Commitment to the Community and availability for all.

Not only do we have an extensive Programme for Senior Members with Ladies’ Mornings Mens’ Mornings and Mixed Doubles evenings along with a high level of League Tennis, we have a very extensive programme for Juniors.

The Club is managed and run by Volunteers who spend a huge amount of their time to ensure that the Club maintains its high standard of Management and friendly atmosphere where people can meet and play Tennis and make new friends.

We look forward to celebrating our 40th Anniversary next year and continuing on with further developing our ever evolving Club.
