Shankill Tennis Club History
Shankill Tennis Club has been providing a service to the local community for over 35 years
Since its inception over 35 years ago, Shankill Tennis Club has been a shining light in the local community offering 10 courts (outdoors and indoors) and an extensive clubhouse for use to a wide range of community groups, to members of the public and of course its tennis club members.
The club is committed to these values and believes tennis should be accessible to all. This commitment has been acknowledged with the awarding of the silver award for Best Community Sports Team/Club to Shankill Tennis Club by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards.
In 2022, Shankill Tennis Club was awarded the highest grant in the sports capital grant. The Sports Capital Programme aims to foster an integrated and planned approach to developing sports and physical recreation facilities throughout the country.
The grant will go towards the development of a new hitting wall, new junior courts, the introduction of padel to the club and new clay courts.
The coaches and volunteers involved in these projects make a huge difference to the heath and quality of life of everyone involved.
Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.
